The Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works (DPWs) would like to inform you about an ongoing project in your area. This project is part of the County’s ongoing efforts to maintain and improve critical infrastructure that supports safe, reliable and sustainable communities.
About the Project
The project involves construction of a dedicated-use water main extending from the Generals Highways Elevated Water Storage Tank at 2034 Generals Highway to the future 911 Center at 1779 Generals Highway.
The new water main will provide water service to the future 911 Center. The water main will largely be installed in the existing State Highway Administration right-of-way, although the section between the elevated water storage tank and Epping Forest Drive will be installed in the roadway due to existing utilities. Additional fire hydrants will be installed along Generals Highway, directly improving fire safety and response readiness for nearby residents.
Properties adjacent to the western side of the road may be impacted during construction, and there will be temporary lane closures. Traffic control devices will guide motorists through the work area. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in fall 2027 and be completed by fall 2028. Work hours would be 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday.
