The current schedule is for these chapters to be approved with an effective date of June 1, 2024.
Future Update Process
An ongoing update process is included to accept comments and suggestions on the contents of the Design Manual. The page from the revised Design Manual Chapter I showing the flowchart of this process is attached.
Prior Exemption
In conjunction with the Department of Inspections & Permits, the implementation of these revisions will provide for a Prior Exemption period related to development projects. Final Plans and Site Development Plans that have made an official submission through the Permit Center by May 31, 2024, will be allowed to proceed under the conditions of the current Design and Construction Standards. This Prior Exemption provision will remain in place as long as the project receives Final Plan/Site Development Plan approval no later than May 31, 2026, and is under construction by May 31, 2027.
All other projects are subject to the April 2024 Design and Construction Standards provisions as of June 1, 2024.
