Annapolis, Maryland (May 12, 2023) – A damaged air release valve caused a 61,000 gallon sanitary sewer overflow in the 1000 block of Shoreland Drive in Glen Burnie on Wednesday afternoon. The cause of the damage is believed to be vandalism. All wastewater was contained and no waterway was impacted.
Signs alerting the community were posted and the area was cleaned and limed. The Maryland Department of Environment and the County Department of Health have been notified. People coming in contact with the affected ground are advised to immediately wash well with soap and warm water. Clothing should also be washed.
