John Wojcik retired from the Army with 32 years of military service. He enlisted in the Pennsylvania National Guard at the age of 18 and served as an Infantry Mortarman until he received his ROTC Commission from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. After graduating from Thomas Cooley Law School, Wojcik served part-time as a Judge Advocate in the Michigan National Guard, where he served as Trial Counsel, Defense Counsel, Brigade Judge Advocate, Command Judge Advocate, and State Staff Judge Advocate. After the September 11th attacks, he quit private practice as a medical malpractice attorney and served on active duty as the General Counsel for the Michigan National Guard—a position he held for 20 years. His overseas service includes service in Liberia, Latvia, and a combat deployment to Afghanistan as part of Operating Enduring Freedom. He retired from active duty as a Colonel and moved his family to Annapolis in 2022. His awards in include the Afghanistan Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and Bronze Star.

Wojcik was instrumental in forming the Ingham County Veterans Treatment Court in East Lansing, Michigan and the Service to Soldiers Program administered by Thomas Cooley Law School. He was appointed by Governor Snyder to the State of Michigan Retirement Board where he served as a Board member for 5 years and Board chair for 2 years. The Board provided oversight for three pension systems and reviewed and approved audits and investment strategies.

John is a 2023 graduate of Leadership Anne Arundel’s Flagship program and serves on the Board of directors for the Annapolis Film Festival in addition to volunteering as an Annapolis Rotarian and as a captain for Sail Beyond Cancer-Annapolis. Before he retired, Dr. Wojcik completed his doctoral dissertation on hurdles veterans face when they leave active duty. He has co-authored two books to help veterans transition: Mission Next helps veterans prepare for leaving active duty, while HR’s Mission Next helps HR leaders recruit, onboard, and retain veterans. Dr. Wojcik is an associate professor at Anne Arundel Community College where he teaches law. John and his wife, Kimberlie are avid sailors and sailed their 44’ sailboat from Traverse City to Annapolis when they made the big move—a 26 day endeavor.
