The Anne Arundel County Fire Department congratulates Captain Jennifer Kraushaar on graduating from the National Fire Academy's Executive Fire Officer (EFO) Program on August 14, 2026. A member of the 2024 cohort, Captain Kraushaar began the program in November 2023.
The EFO program prepares fire and emergency medical services officers for executive leadership through coursework and applied research. For her capstone, Captain Kraushaar examined what makes it difficult for firefighters to pursue professional development. Her research identified barriers such as scheduling, cost, and limited awareness of available opportunities, and offered practical steps fire departments can take to improve access.
Captain Kraushaar shared her findings in a November 3 article for Firehouse. The department congratulates her on this accomplishment and thanks her for sharing research that can help fire departments support their members' growth throughout their careers.
