The Anne Arundel County Fire Department (AACoFD), along with AACo Animal Services, will officially unleash a new partnership to help reunite lost pets with their families through a countywide pet microchip scanner initiative.
The initiative places a universal pet microchip scanner in fire stations across the county, giving firefighters and community members another tool to help reunite lost pets with their families. Thanks to the generosity of the non-profit Friends of Anne Arundel County Animals and in collaboration with AACo Animal Services, all AACo Fire Stations are now equipped with a universal pet microchip scanner. Now, with a quick scan, we may be able to help paws-itively identify a pet so it can be reunited with its family.
We want to invite you tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. to our Marley Fire Station 18 (7726 Baltimore/Annapolis Blvd, Glen Burnie, Maryland). Fire Chief Trisha Wolford will recognize Friends of Anne Arundel County Animals for their donation. Representatives from Animal Services will also be on hand with some of their furry friends to show how easy it is to paws-itively identify a microchipped pet.
All are welcome; the event will last about 30 minutes and is an excellent opportunity for interviews, pictures, and demonstrations. This initiative is another example of what can happen when public safety agencies and community partners work together for a common goal. We hope you will join us tomorrow for the official roll-out.
