Date/Time
Annapolis, MD (April 30, 2026) – A regional celebration of two-wheeled commuting known as “Bike to Work Week” returns to Annapolis and Anne Arundel County May 11-17, 2026. The week will conclude with a “Bike to Work Day” event at the Donner Lot on Annapolis City Dock (120 Compromise Street) with a short program at 8 a.m. on Friday, May 15. The event is sponsored by Anne Arundel County, the City of Annapolis, and Bicycle Advocates for Annapolis & Anne Arundel County (“BikeAAA”).
The week is about more than getting on a bicycle, it’s about showcasing the region’s growing network of trails and bike lanes and how that new infrastructure can support bicycle commuting as a healthy, sustainable, and accessible commuting option.
“Biking to work is a key part of the smarter, greener, more equitable future we’re building in Anne Arundel County through our Walk & Roll Anne Arundel pedestrian and bike master plan,” said County Executive Steuart Pittman. “By making it safer and easier to bike and walk, we’re creating healthier communities, less traffic, and reducing our environmental impact.”
Elected officials, community leaders, and residents are encouraged to participate and show their support for a more connected and bike-friendly Annapolis and Anne Arundel County throughout the week, and then participate in the celebration and group ride on Friday. Employers throughout the county are encouraged to host their own Bike to Work Week events and programs.
Riders throughout the county can register at https://biketoworkmd.com/ to receive a free t-shirt at a variety of county bike shops or at the Annapolis event.
“Bike to Work Week is an opportunity to showcase how biking can connect our community, not only to jobs and recreational opportunities, but also to each other,” said Mayor Jared Littmann. “It reflects our shared commitment to creating a transportation network that meets the needs of all Annapolitans.”
