Tameka Smith is a native Annapolitan with numerous years of state and local government experience. Prior to becoming a member of Community Engagement and Constituent Services, Tameka was a valued member of the Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works, Bureau of Highways. She is an alumna of Leadership Anne Arundel’s Neighborhood Leadership Academy and is also a member of NAMI Anne Arundel where she volunteers and serves as a program facilitator for NAMI’s Family-to-Family Program.
Tameka also supports the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and has studied psychology and health and human services at the Anne Arundel Community College. Mental health is where Tameka’s heart is and in her spare time, you can find her supporting her son’s high school athletic career, advocating for better mental health resources and better overall treatment for those in the Black and brown communities, and trying to bring about positive change.
