Karen has more than 20 years of experience leading Departments of Social Services (DSS) and child welfare agencies with expertise in organizational change management and community collaboration. She has developed partnerships and engaged community partners to leverage resources to address barriers to self-sufficiency and stability. Karen is proficient in assessing organizational needs, implementing process and practice changes, and managing the effects of the change within organizations.
Karen is a community advocate who has served on many boards and committees focused on the health and wellbeing of women, children, and families. She has served as a trustee on the Howard County General Hospital board as well as on human trafficking task forces, and workforce investment and United Way boards.
In addition to her experience leading human service organizations, Karen’s educational accomplishments in journalism, social work, and strategic organizational leadership contribute to her qualifications. She lives in Gambrills with her son.
