Fiscal Year 21 Budget

Thoughts on the FY21 Budget from Councilwoman Pickard

"This Friday, June 12th, the County Council will strike (vote on) the Fiscal Year 21 Budget. After reviewing the budget in depth and the 177 proposed amendments, we were able to work together and accept reasonable cuts to the budget without reduction in services. This allowed us the ability to fund priorities while making sure the budget is balanced. All of this was accomplished within our debt affordability and without raising taxes."

Below are a few of the general highlights

  • Funding for Police body-worn cameras
  • Shift in funding to include additional positions the Board of Ed requested
  • All employee groups being recognized with compensation.

In the Capital Budget, there are some important District 2 projects to highlight:

  • Old Mill West High School - first year of construction funding
  • Rippling Woods Elementary -  first year of construction funding
  • Quarterfield Elementary -  first year of construction funding
  • Randazzo Park - final funding to complete renovations
  • Glen Burnie Ice Rink - funding for renovation/improvements
