Over this past weekend the Anne Arundel County Fire Department responded to two separate drowning incidents. Both incidents involved young children at residential pools. On Friday, June 26, 2026, crews responded to a community in Brooklyn Park. Crews treated and transported a juvenile male to a local hospital. The following day on June 27, 2026, crews responded to the Pasadena area for a reported drowning. Crews treated and transported a juvenile male to a local hospital.

These tragic incidents and the upcoming rise in temperatures this week highlight the importance of water and pool safety. Install fencing with self latching gates. Keep a life ring, reach pole, and first aid kit on the pool deck. Enroll children in age-appropriate swimming lessons. Never swim alone or allow children to swim without an adult present.
