AACoFD Fire Recruit Class 66 Graduates 33 New EMS/Firefighters

33 new EMS/Firefighters have officially joined the ranks of the fire service following their graduation from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department Fire Academy on Tuesday evening, October 6, 2026. Of the thirty-three graduates, twenty-nine have joined the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. 3 were from the United States Coast Guard and 1 will join the Annapolis City Fire Department.

Recruit Class 66 began their journey in January of 2026 and have completed several months of intensive training in firefighting, emergency medical services, and various other technical disciplines.

The ceremony celebrated not only the graduates' accomplishments but also the support of their families, instructors, and mentors who helped guide them over the past eight months. Keynote speaker Chief Shane Ray, of the National Fire Sprinkler Association, talked to the new firefighters about the evolution of fire protection and fire code in the nation, inspiring each of them to continue their service far beyond the basics. Chief Ray complimented Maryland, advising it is one of the premier states for establishing progressive fire protection initiatives.

Recruit Class 66 now joins the proud tradition of fire service that defines the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.
