Annapolis, MD (March 4, 2019) - Family and professional caregivers, social workers, nurses, home care and long-term care facility workers, and others can get information and access resources at Anne Arundel County's 27th Annual Caregivers' Conference set for 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, April 13th, at The Hotel at Arundel Preserve (7795 Arundel Mills Boulevard, Hanover, MD).
The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities has once again teamed with local businesses and organizations to provide a day filled with information and resources for both family and professional caregivers.
In addition, caregivers will have a chance to network with fellow caregivers, both informal and professional. Vendors from local agencies and businesses will be on hand to share resources and information to assist you with your caregiving needs.
Lon Kieffer, aka DOC (Defender of Caregivers), is this year's keynote presenter. During his opening session, Lon will help us navigate A Caregiver's Journey. Chaplains Hogge and Madison from Hospice of the Chesapeake will present Conversations of Hope when Hopes are Challenged: How Spirituality Plays a Part in Caring for a Loved One with Dementia. Mikki Firor will share important information on Intimacy and Dementia and Kim Burton will discuss Taking Care of YOU: Self-care for Family Caregivers. Dr. Nicole Absar will provide an Update on Neurocognitive Disorders and Kate Perepeko will provide updates and symptom management for Parkinson's disease. Jeanne Finnegan returns to share The Power of Music with Neurocognitive Disorders. Jonathan Boehman will share The Caregivers Technology Tool Kit and Dr. Nicole Rochester will guide caregivers in navigating the health care system. Jennifer Sapp and Sherry Gilde will help caregivers who are contemplating the move of their loved one to a care facility. And, finally, Anne Contee returns to share closing remarks and relaxation exercises in Connection is Healing.
