Bestgate Park Repairs

Starting Monday, September 15, the Bestgate Park basketball and tennis courts will be closed for repairs for approximately 2-3 weeks, weather permitting. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Discovery Village

Anne Arundel County no longer leases the Discovery Village Boat Ramp. The County currently has a partnership with Parish Creek Landing (4819 Woods Wharf Road, Shady Side, MD) offering free public boat ramp water access through the remainder of the 2025 boating season. The department is also exploring multiple options to ensure that long-term boat ramp access remains available in this area.

Service Disruption

Lake Waterford Park Restroom Facilities Closure

Starting Wednesday, June 4, 2025, the restroom facilities at Lake Waterford Park will be closed for renovations. Portable restrooms are available on-site for patron use during this time.

Quiet Waters Spray Notice

Starting Monday, September 22, herbicide applications will be made to control invasive Tree of Heaven and Autumn Olive throughout Quiet Waters Park. The applications will last approximately two weeks. Spray areas will be marked with yellow signs. Information on the product to be used can be found at the following links. Deep Repellent will be applied to portions of the Formal Gardens at Quiet Waters Park between the Visitor Center and the Blue Heron Center on Monday, September 22 and Tuesday, September 23. Visitors may experience an unpleasant odor. Information on the product to be applied can be found at the following link.

Upcoming Improvements at Bacon Ridge

Starting September 22, the entrance to the Severn Chapel Road - Bacon Ridge Natural Area will be closed for construction. The park remains open! You can access all trails from the Hawkins Road and Bacon Ridge Road trailheads. The Bike Skills Park will remain open and accessible via the trail system.
