Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA)

Recreation and Parks earned national accreditation through the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies.

Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks has joined an elite group of park and recreation agencies across the country by earning national accreditation through the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies.  

National Recreation and Parks Association's Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) provides quality assurance and quality improvement of accredited park and recreation agencies throughout the United States by providing agencies with a management system of best practices. Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) is the only national accreditation of park and recreation agencies and is a valuable measure of an agency’s overall quality of operation, management, and service to the community.  
  
As part of the accreditation process, Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks had to demonstrate compliance with 151 recognized standards and document all policies and procedures.


What is CAPRA Accreditation?

The Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) is the only national accreditation of park and recreation agencies and is a valuable measure of an agency’s overall quality of operation, management, and service to the community. It consists of 151 standards in areas such as: Role & Responsibility, Planning, Organization, Human Resources, Finance, Program & Facility Management, Public Safety, Risk Management and Evaluation & Research. Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks are proud to be one of only 186 accredited agencies in the United States, and one of the 4 accredited agencies in Maryland.
