Traffic Signs

Traffic signs are used to provide regulations, warnings, and guidance information to road users (2011 MD MUTCD).

The Traffic Engineering Division designs, installs, and maintains signs using its own forces. We maintain over 95,000 traffic signs, which are inspected via a programmed frequency. However, by partnering with our citizens who report damaged signs, we can provide an even higher level of service.

The Traffic Engineering Division also installs new signs to control the flow of traffic as needed and performs emergency repairs of STOP, YIELD, ONE-WAY, and DO NOT ENTER signs.
