How to Apply?

The Anne Arundel County Office of Personnel utilizes an online system called GovernmentJobs.com to facilitate the hiring process. The majority of the County's positions are posted to this system and can be applied for online. In some cases, different application instructions will be identified in the posting. Listed below are steps for the application process.

1. Visit the Job Announcements page to view the current full time, part time, temporary, contractual, and internship opportunities that are currently available. The closing date is noted when applicable (some announcements have a continuous posting status and do not have closing dates).

Note: In some cases the advertisements are to create eligibility lists. If this is the case, it will be noted under the department. Applications received after the published date and time cannot be considered for that particular announcement.

2. You can apply online by clicking on the Position Title you are interested in. In most cases, you will be directed to the "Job Details" page. If the position is being posted on behalf of the Health Department, you will be directed to a page on their website. If the position is part-time, temporary, contractual, or an internship, please follow the application instructions listed in the posting.

3. On the resulting page containing the "Job Details", click on the "Apply" tab/link.

4. If this is the first time you are applying using the on-line GovernmentJobs.com system, you will need to create an account and select a Username and Password. Click on the "Create an account" link and follow the prompts.

6. After your account has been established and you have signed in, you will be prompted to complete several sections of the application (see screen shot below). You must have an email address to complete your application. If you don't have an email account, we suggest visiting Anne Arundel County Libraries or opening one of the numerous free email services. Although you can stop at any point during the process and come back to your application by signing into the system, we suggest having complete dates, history of your employment, and certifications accessible when you begin the process. Applications may be rejected if incomplete.

Note: Often announcements identify preferred qualifications so it is important that you provide us with your relevant experience, training and education to address all expectations for the announced position. Those with the strongest credentials will be considered the best qualified for the eligible list of candidates.

7. Once your application is submitted, it will be reviewed and it will be determined if you meet the criteria to be included on a list of eligible candidates and contacted for an interview. Our online hiring system is a secure site. Only authorized County employees have access to the information submitted.

Thank you for your interest in employment with Anne Arundel County!
