Re-Entry Program Graduation & Awards Ceremony
The Anne Arundel County Police Department is inviting the media to attend the first graduation/certificate ceremony for the newly created Re-Entry & Community Collaboration Program. Mr. Derek Mathews, the program creator, and manager began working on this community policing-based initiative in December of 2020, and on Friday, September 24th the first class will graduate from this program!
The goal is to assist in providing a holistic approach to help Anne Arundel County residents re-entering the community, especially people that are formerly incarcerated, veterans, and those at risk of being justice-involved. The mission is to equip participants with marketable skill sets to foster career opportunities and attain stability in the community.
The program offers a multitude of services, including but not limited to the following:
- 24/7 Re-entry Support
- GED Preparation
- Drug & Alcohol Abuse Treatment
- Health & Wellness
- Job Search & Training
- Anger Management
- Military Service Benefits
- Mental Health Counseling
The Anne Arundel County Police Department is committed to Community Policing. The Re-Entry Collaboration Program is another part of our quest to serve our residents.
Please join us Friday, September 24th at 2 p.m. at the Severn Covenant Church (20 Gambrills Road) for an awards presentation led by Mr. Matthews honoring the hard work of this first re-entry class.
Interviews with graduates and Mr. Matthews will be offered.
