Police Press Release November 7, 2016




Homicide                                            (Northern District)                                        Brooklyn


            On Friday, November 4, 2016 at approximately 6:42 p.m., Anne Arundel County Northern District Officers responded to the area of Levin Road and Alley 16 for a report of shots fired.  Upon arrival officers located an adult male suffering from apparent trauma to the upper body lying in the alley.  Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased.


            Anne Arundel County Homicide detectives responded to the scene to investigate the death as an apparent homicide.  The victim was identified as Trayvon Dashawn Briscoe a twenty-one year old male from the 200 block of West Meadow Road, Brooklyn, Maryland.  Mr. Briscoe’s body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the exact cause and manner of death.


            Northern Patrol Units closed the area down as homicide detectives and evidence technicians checked the area for items of evidentiary value.  Detectives canvassed the area and interviewed several witnesses and are piecing together the chain of events that led to the death of Mr. Briscoe.

Attempted Car Jacking/Robbery                                                                            Millersville


On November 6, 2016 at 1:09 a.m., officers responded the intersection of Harpers Mill Road and Lonaday Court in Millersville for a citizen robbery.  Upon arrival, two adult male victims reported that they were at the Gulf Gas Station at 8201 Veterans Hwy in Millersville getting fuel when they were approached by several suspects dressed in dark clothing.


The victims stated two of the males displayed handguns and demanded money. The victims advised that the suspects took a cell phone and money before they fled on foot.  Responding patrol units, K9 and an air unit conducted an area canvass for the suspects with negative results. Fatal Crash                                                                                                    Pasadena


On November 5, 2016 at approximately 10:00 pm, officers responded to a multiple vehicle motorcycle crash on southbound Edwin Raynor Blvd at Deering Road in Pasadena.  Investigation showed that vehicle #2 (Mazda) was slowing to turn left onto Deering Rd when vehicle # 1 (motorcycle) struck it from behind causing the passenger to be thrown from the motorcycle.  Vehicle #3 (motorcycle) then struck vehicle #1 and the passenger who had been thrown from the seat.  The passenger on vehicle #1 was declared dead at the scene by fire department personnel and taken to the Medical Examiner’s office in Baltimore for the autopsy.  The drivers of both motorcycles were taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with critical injuries.  The driver of the Mazda was not injured.  


The preliminary cause of the crash is the failure of vehicle #1 to slow and yield to vehicle #2.  There is also evidence that alcohol use contributed to the crash.  All motorcycle occupants were wearing helmets. Traffic Safety is handling the investigation and any charges are pending review by the States Attorney.

Assault (Shooting)                                                                                                     Severn

On November 7, 2016 at approximately 1:37 a.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 8200 block of Durness Court in Severn. Upon arrival officers located a male lying on the ground with apparent gunshot wounds to the upper body. The adult male victim was coherent, but could not provide any information regarding the incident.  The victim was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

 Several units including K9 and police helicopter responded to canvass the area however no suspect(s) were located. . If anyone has any information about this incident please contact the Western District Detective Unit at 410-222-6155.




Fatal Crash                                                                                                                Hanover


On November 6, 2016 at approximately 3:10 a.m., officers responded to the report of a single vehicle crash on MD-100 one mile east of Arundel Mills Cir (MD-713) in Hanover. Investigation showed that the Acura was seen by a witness driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of MD-100 when it veered into the median and struck a concrete bridge abutment.  The seat belted driver was declared dead at the scene by fire department personnel and taken to the Medical Examiner’s office in Baltimore for autopsy.    


The preliminary cause of the crash is the driver’s failure to remain right of center.  The reason for the driver being on the wrong side of the roadway is unknown. It is unknown if drug/alcohol use contributed to the crash.  Traffic Safety is handling the investigation.
