Police Press Release November 30, 2016

SOUTHERN DISTRICT

Robbery - Edgewater

     On November 29, 2016 at approximately 6:30 p.m. officer responded to the Subway located at 11 Lee Airpark Drive for a robbery.  Investigation revealed that a female entered the store, displayed a gun, and demanded money.  After employees complied, the female exited the store and entered a waiting vehicle being driven by a male suspect. The two then fled the scene.

Officers that were responding to the area observed the vehicle traveling North on Solomons Island Road.  Those officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and both suspects were taken into custody without incident.  During a search of the vehicle, officers recovered a black Daisy Winchester .177 caliber bb/pellet gun that was used during the robbery. Both suspects were charged with robbery and armed robbery.

NORTHERN DISTRICT

Firearms Violations  - Pasadena

            On November 10, 2016, at approximately 12;16 p.m., the Anne Arundel County Police responded to the area of the 200 block of Whitaker Rd in the Freetown Community for a report of shots fired.  When officers arrived on scene they located several .45 caliber cartridge casings in the roadway as well as parked vehicle that had been struck by one of the rounds.  A short time later, police spoke with a female who reported her vehicle was also struck.

            Through investigation, Anne Arundel County Police Detectives learned the male responsible for firing the handgun was Deonte Evans of Willing Court in Freetown Village.

            On November 29, 2016, at approximately 6:00 a.m., the Anne Arundel County Police executed a search and seizure warrant in the 7800 block of Willing Court.  Evans was located at the residence.  Detectives located inside of the bedroom where Evans was sleeping, a loaded .45 semi-automatic handgun and various handgun ammunition.

            Evans was subsequently charged for the attempted shooting of the occupants of the vehicle and firearm possession related charges.

WESTERN DISTRICT

 

 

Shooting                                                                                                                     Crofton                                             

On November 29, 2016 at approximately 6:03 pm, officers responded to the area of Holly Hill Lane and Reed Drive in Crofton in reference to a shooting. A caller advised that an adult male victim was “accidently” shot in the leg and that the caller, victim, and suspect were all know to each other. The caller also stated that the victim and suspect had fled the scene in the vehicle where the victim was shot.

 

 A short time later, the victim called 9-1-1 and stated that he had been shot during an attempted robbery “near a Royal Farm store somewhere on Rt. 3”. Officers responded to the 2900 block of Cold Spring Way and met with the victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was transported to Shock Trauma with non-life threatening injuries. Officers responded to Royal Farm stores along the Rt. 3 corridor however no crime scene could be located. Detectives are following up with the investigation and are attempting to get more information.

 

 

EASTERN DISTRICT

 

Attempted Strong Arm Robbery                                                                             Glen Burnie

 

 

On November 29, 2016 at 11:48 a.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Glen Mar Road for an attempted strong arm robbery. Upon arrival, officers met with the 32 year old female victim who advised that an unknown suspect tried to pull her backpack from her while walking in the area of Nolpark Court and Crain Highway.  The suspect was unable to get the bag from the victim and fled the scene south on Crain Highway.  The victim was not injured.  Responding officers, including the department K-9 unit canvassed the area however no suspect could be located.
