Fatal Motorcycle Crash Odenton
On May 4th 2017 at approximately 5:42pm, officers responded to a crash involving two vehicles in the 1100 block of Annapolis Road (MD-175) near Oakton Road in Odenton.
A Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling north on Annapolis Road when a Lincoln Navigator pulled out from the parking lot at 1144 Annapolis Road attempting to turn left (south) on Annapolis Road. The motorcycle was unable to stop and struck the driver’s side door of the Lincoln. The motorcycle driver was declared deceased at the scene and taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for autopsy. The driver of the Lincoln was transported by Fire Department personnel to Baltimore Washington Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
The preliminary cause of the crash was failure to yield right of way by the driver of the Lincoln. Alcohol and excessive speed do not appear to be contributing factors to this crash. The motorcycle driver was wearing a helmet.
The Traffic Safety Section is handing the crash investigation and any decision on charges will be after a review by the State’s Attorney.
