Serious Injury Motorcycle Crash Odenton
On June 5th 2017, at approximately 5:39 p.m., officers responded to a motorcycle crash with a tow truck on Annapolis Rd (MD-175) near MD-32 in Odenton. Investigation showed that a Yamaha motorcycle was northbound on MD-175 at a high rate of speed when it crossed the centerline and sideswiped a tow truck that was traveling southbound. The motorcycle driver was thrown from the motorcycle and was taken by U.S. Park Police helicopter to the Prince Georges trauma center with serious injuries. The driver of the tow truck was not injured.
Witnesses reported the motorcycle driving recklessly prior to the crash cutting between vehicles and passing where prohibited. The primary cause of the crash is failure to remain right of center and excessive speed. The motorcycle driver’s license was suspended and he was not licensed to drive a motorcycle. There were no signs of alcohol or drug use.
The Traffic Safety Section is assisting patrol with the investigation. Charges are pending completion of the investigation.
