Barricade (UPDATE) - Edgewater
On September 20, 2017, at approximately 10:45 p.m., officers responded the 700 block of Central Avenue in Edgewater to look for a person of interest in a shooting that occurred earlier in the evening in Annapolis City. The person of interest, who was the only occupant inside the residence, refused to exit the home. As a precaution, officers set up a perimeter to contain the person and called the Quick Response Team (QRT) and negotiators to the scene for assistance.
At approximately 5:25 a.m., the suspect exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident. He was then turned over to the Annapolis Police Department for their investigation. The Anne Arundel County Police Department has no further information regarding this incident. Any inquiries should be directed to the Annapolis Police Department.
Attempted Commercial Robbery - Glen Burnie
On September 21, 2017 at approximately 1:38 a.m., officers responded to the Exxon located at 8001 Crain Highway in Glen Burnie for an attempted robbery. The store employee stated two suspects entered the business, displayed a gun, and demanded money. The clerk was in a secured room and refused to give the suspects any property. The suspects then fled on foot. Several officers, including canine canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspects.

Bank Robbery (UPDATE & ARREST) -Edgewater
On September 15, 2017 at approximately 1:38 p.m. officers responded to the Sandy Spring Bank located at 116 Mitchell Chance Road in Edgewater for a bank robbery. Upon arrival officers met with bank employees who reported that the suspect entered the bank and handed a teller a note demanding money. The employee complied and the suspect fled from the bank. Several officers including canine responded and canvassed the area but the suspect was not located. No weapon was implied or seen and no one was injured during the incident.

While investigating this case, and speaking with surrounding jurisdictions, detectives determined that this suspect committed two additional bank robberies in Virginia. The first occurred in Manassas, VA on September 14, 2017 and the other occurred on September 16, 2017 in Prince William County, VA.
Through investigative efforts, and working with Virginia detectives, Anne Arundel County Robbery detectives were able to identify the suspect and vehicle involved in this robbery. On September 20, 2017, Anne Arundel County detectives located and arrested the suspect near his home in Silver Spring, Maryland. Detectives from Virginia also obtained charges in reference to the bank robberies that occurred in their respective jurisdictions.
