Police Press Release for March 3, 2016
On March 1, 2016 at approximately 7:00 p.m. an officer was flagged down by a motorist at the trestle between Route 648 and Broadview Boulevard in Ferndale. The officer observed a female victim with severe injuries located just off Broadview Boulevard on the access road just south the trestle/bridge. Medical personnel responded and attempted lifesaving measures but the victim succumbed to her injuries.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the victim was struck by a MTA Light-Rail train which had been heading southbound toward the Ferndale stop. The Anne Arundel County Traffic Safety Section responded to assist with the investigation. Maryland Transit Administration Police also responded to assist with the scene. The decedent was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for autopsy to determine an official cause and manner of death.
This is still under investigation; there is no further information available at this time.
Victim: Amanda Renea Payton, 31-year-old from the 100 block of Elm Avenue in Glen Burnie.
