Police Press Release for January 25, 2017

Northern District

Strong-Arm Robbery - Glen Burnie                      

On January 24, 2017, at approximately 11:17 a.m., officers responded to the 200 block of Fernglen Avenue in Ferndale for a robbery.  Investigation determined that an adult female victim had arrived home and was exiting her vehicle, when the suspect approached her and grabbed her purse.  The suspect then fled on foot to a red vehicle parked in front of the residence.  Several officers responded and canvassed the area however neither the suspect nor the vehicle were located.  The victim was not injured during the incident.

Western District

 

Attempted Commercial Robbery  - Hanover

On January 24, 2017 at approximately 7:21 p.m., officers responded to the Michaels, located at 7665 Arundel Mills Boulevard in Hanover for an attempted armed robbery of the business.  The clerk told officers that a male entered the business and approached the register.  The subject displayed a knife and demanded money from the register.  The subject fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction, without taking anything from the business. Numerous officers, to include canine and aviation, canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspect.  The victim was not injured during the incident.

Suspect:

1)      White male wearing dark clothing

 

Commercial Robbery  - Hanover

On January 24, 2017 at approximately 8:48 p.m., officers responded to the Dunkin Donuts located at 1348 Ashton Road in Hanover for a robbery of the business.  Upon arrival, officers spoke with the clerk who reported that a male entered the store, implied he had a handgun and demanded money from the cash register. The clerk complied with the demands and the male then fled from the store.  Officers searched the area with the assistance of the police canine unit, however were unable to locate the suspect.  The clerk was not injured during the incident.

Suspect:

1)      White male mid 30’s wearing dark clothing

 

Commercial Robbery  - Severn 

On January 24, 2017 at 11:53 p.m. officers responded to the 7-Eleven store located at 500 Donaldson Avenue in Severn for a robbery of the business. Upon arrival officers met with the clerks who told officers a male entered the business, implied he had a weapon and demanded money. The clerks complied with the demand and the suspect fled the store on foot.   The clerks were not injured and no weapon was displayed during the incident.  Officers searched the area with the assistance of the police canine unit and helicopter; however the suspect was not located.

Stabbing  - Hanover

On January 24, 2017 at approximately 7:07 p.m., officers were called to the Safeway located at 7643 Arundel Mills Boulevard in Hanover for a stabbing.  Upon arrival, officers learned that there was a confrontation between two groups of people near the Safeway at which time the situation became physical.  During the altercation, two juvenile male victims were stabbed.  The suspects fled in a tan or gold Nissan product vehicle. Both victims were transported to University Of Maryland Shock Trauma for treatment, with what are believed to be non-life threatening wounds.  No suspect description is available at this time.
