Police Press Release for February 29, 2016

EASTERN DISTRICT
Theft from Auto                                    Pasadena
On February 29, 2016 at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers responded to the area of Tower Bridge Drive/Dorshire Court in reference to suspicious subjects looking into parked vehicles.  Knowing that this area has been hit hard by theft from autos, officers approached the area on foot, from different directions in order to apprehend the suspects.  The suspects began to flee on foot, but were quickly apprehended.  Investigation revealed two confirmed thefts from unlocked vehicles.  The victims were located and property returned.  Some property from other unreported and unknown thefts was also recovered.

WESTERN DISTRICT
 
 
Single Vehicle Crash                                    Millersville
 
On February 28, 2016 at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers responded to the report of a single vehicle crash on Crain Hwy (MD-3) north bound just before the I-97 south bound ramp in Millersville.  Investigation determined that a Dodge Neon was northbound on Crain Hwy when it drifted off the left side of the roadway.  The vehicle then struck numerous trees before coming to rest in a grassy area off the roadway.  
 
The driver, the single occupant of the vehicle was trapped and had to be cut free from the wreckage.  She was transported by helicopter to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with critical injuries. The cause of the crash is the failure of the driver to remain in a single lane.  It is unknown at this time if alcohol or speed was a factor. Traffic Safety is assisting Western District with the investigation.  Any charges are pending review by the States Attorney.
 
As of February 29th the driver was still listed in critical condition.

NORTHERN DISTRICT
 
Armed Robbery                                    Glen Burnie
 
On February 29, 2016 at approximately 12:30 a.m., officers from the Northern District responded to Papa John’s Pizza located at 2 Pershing Avenue in Glen Burnie for an armed robbery.  Officers spoke to an employee who stated two suspects with masks over their faces broke the front door and entered the business with handguns.  The suspects left the business with an undisclosed amount of US Currency.  One suspect left through the front door running northbound on Crain Hwy and the second suspect left through the rear door in an unknown direction.

CDS Violation                                                 Glen Burnie
 
On February 26, 2016, deputies from the Anne Arundel County Sheriff’s Office were attempting to locate a wanted subject at 7646 Spencer Rd, Glen Burnie.  While checking the residence, they located a subject in the basement of the residence.  They located a large quantity of drugs and a pistol in the area the subject was located.
 
Sheriff’s Deputies secured the house and contacted Northern District Tactical Narcotics Team and Tactical Patrol Unit.  The suspect was transported to Northern District and detectives obtained a search warrant for the house.  Detectives recovered 11 baggies of marijuana (320 grams), 1 baggie crack cocaine (.9 grams), 12 baggies crack (3.5 grams), 1 baggie heroin (1.2 grams), 6 Xanax pills, 3 scales, $1017 in cash and a Smith & Wesson pistol (loaded).
