Fatal Crash - Pasadena

On February 9, 2017 at approximately 10:47pm, officers responded to the report of a single vehicle crash on MD-100 eastbound before the merge with MD-10 in Pasadena. Investigation showed that a Mitsubishi pickup truck was traveling east on MD-100 when the driver, for unknown reasons, swerved to the right and left the roadway striking a tree.   Witnesses reported seeing the truck driving erratically prior to the crash though he is not believed to have been under the influence of alcohol.  The driver was taken by the Fire Department personnel to Baltimore Washington Medical Center with critical injuries where he was later pronounced dead.  He will be taken the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy.

The preliminary cause of the crash was failure to remain in a single lane.  It does not appear that excessive speed or alcohol are contributing factors.  The driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
