Police Press Release for December 8, 2016

NORTHERN DISTRICT

 

Stabbing/Homicide                                                                                                    Glen Burnie

 

On December 5, 2016 at approximately 1:53 pm, officers responded to 114 Mountain Road in Glen Burnie for an assault in progress.  When officers arrived, they located an adult female victim lying outside the apartment building that appeared to be suffering from stab wounds.  The fire department transported the female to Baltimore Washington Medical Center where she died from her injuries.

 

Anne Arundel County Homicide detectives responded to the scene to investigate this death as an apparent homicide.  The victim was identified as 28 year old Ikea Nicole Jackson from Glen Burnie.  Ms. Jackson’s body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

 

Northern Patrol Units secured the scene as homicide detectives and evidence technicians checked the area for items of evidentiary value.  Detectives canvassed the area and interviewed witnesses and are piecing together the chain of events that led to the death of Ms. Jackson. At this time, detectives are attempting to determine the motive for this assault and to speak with persons known to the victim. There are no similar incidents that have occurred in the area.

 

UPDATE:

As the investigation continued several pieces of evidence related to the crime have been recovered and submitted for forensic analysis.  Detectives continued to conduct numerous interviews with witnesses that had information related to the murder of Ikea Jackson.  Through these investigative steps detectives were able to positively identify Tashaya Raeshon Turner, a thirty seven year old female from the 20th block of Grasonville Terrace, Grasonville, Maryland as the person who murdered Ikea Jackson.

 

On Tuesday, December 6, 2016, Homicide detectives secured an arrest warrant charging Tashaya Turner with the following in regards to the murder of Ms. Jackson:  First Degree Murder, Second Degree Murder, Dangerous Weapon with Intent to Injure, along with First and Second Degree Assault.  The investigation revealed this was a targeted crime and not a random act of violence.

 

On Wednesday, December 7, 2016, Homicide detectives executed a search warrant in the 900 block of Ramsay Street, Baltimore, Maryland.  During the execution of the search warrant Tashaya Turner was taken into custody without incident.  Tashaya Turner is currently being held at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center on a no bond status.
