Child Pornography Severna Park
In December of 2016, the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Child Abuse Unit initiated an investigation into the distribution of child pornography. During the investigation evidence was developed by detectives that led to a search warrant being served at the suspect’s home in January of 2017. The search warrant was executed in the 700 block of Abigail Wynd Court, Severna Park, Maryland where members of the ICAC Task Force introduced themselves to resident David Jason Wecht. During the search several electronic devices belonging to David Wecht were recovered as evidence.
The Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Digital Forensics Lab conducted a forensic examination of David Wecht’s electronic devices. During the examination the Digital Forensics Lab recovered multiple files in regards to child pornography. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging David Jason Wecht with multiple counts of distributing and possessing child pornography. The suspect, David Wecht, was taken into custody at his residence on Wednesday, February 1st, 2017 without incident.
The Anne Arundel County Police Department is an affiliate of the Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC), which is comprised of police agencies from around the state. Its primary mission is to protect children from computer-facilitated sexual exploitation. The Task Force works cooperatively with law enforcement agencies and prosecutors to provide resources to combat these crimes. Additionally, the Task Force provides community awareness campaigns helping to prevent the spread of these crimes through education.

CDS Arrest Glen Burnie, MD
On February 1, 2017 at 8:17 p.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop on Ritchie Highway near Crain Highway in Glen Burnie. A search of the vehicle and driver resulted in the recovery of 16.5 grams of marijuana, $1,892.00 U.S. currency and a loaded .357 revolver. The revolver had been reported stolen out of Loudoun County, Virginia.

Arrest Update in Armed Robbery Hanover
On January 27, 2017 at approximately 9:27 a.m., officers responded for a robbery at the 2700 block of Amber Crest Rd. in Hanover. The 60 year old female victim told officers she was unloading groceries from her vehicle when she was approached from behind by a male. The male pointed a handgun at her and demanded money. The victim handed over her purse and the suspect removed cash and fled. Officers searched the area but were not able to locate the suspect.
1) Black male, early 30s, 6’00” tall, “fit” build, wearing dark clothing.
On January 27, 2017 the Anne Arundel County Police responded to two robberies where the suspect and vehicle descriptions were the same. The first occurred in the 2700 Block of Amber Crest Road in Hanover. The second occurred that evening in the 100 Block of Oak Drive, Pasadena. In both incidents, the suspect brandished a handgun and robbed both victims of personal property including a purse and US currency as they were exiting their vehicles. The suspect then fled the area in a white SUV.
Investigators were able to obtain a description of the involved vehicle. Officers located and stopped the vehicle, which was being operated by an individual fitting the description of the suspect. The driver was arrested and charged in connection with both robberies. A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of a 9mm handgun.
