Police Press Release December 5, 2016
On December 3, 2016, at approximately 3:19 pm officers responded to a motor vehicle collision on Gambrills Road at Dicus Mill Road. The investigation revealed that after stopping for a stop sign on Dicus Mill Road, the vehicle started across Gambrills Road. While crossing Gambrills Road, it was struck by a Chevrolet Impala that was traveling northbound on Gambrills Road. The impact caused the Impala to rotate and cross into the southbound lane of Gambrills Road where it was struck in the passenger side door by a Ford F150 traveling southbound.
Commercial Armed Robbery Annapolis
On December 4, 2016 at approximately 2:14 am officers responded to a robbery at the Exxon gas station located at 161 Defense Highway in Annapolis. Officers spoke with the store clerk who stated that two masked males entered the business. The clerk stated that one of the men was armed with a handgun and demanded money. The clerk complied with the demand and gave the suspects money from the business. The suspects then fled the area on foot. Patrol officers and K-9 canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspects.
Suspect #1: Black male approximately 6’0”
Suspect #2: Black male approximately 5’8” armed with a handgun
Departmental Accident (Hit and run) Crofton
On December 4, 2016 at 1:19 a.m., an Anne Arundel County Police officer was conducting a traffic stop in a fully marked police vehicle on the shoulder of Rt. 3 South @ Carver Road. During the traffic stop, while the officer was seated in the vehicle, a dark colored SUV struck the officer’s vehicle and continued traveling south on Rt. 3. The suspect vehicle side swiped the front driver’s side door and quarter panel/bumper. Several units including a police helicopter canvassed the area for the suspect but were unable to locate the vehicle. Neither the officer nor the citizen at the traffic stop were injured.
Suspect vehicle: Dark colored SUV. Should have damage to right passenger’s side of vehicle.

The driver of the F150 was transported to Baltimore Washington Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Impala was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma with serious injuries. The driver of the Escape was not injured. The primary cause of the crash appears to be the Escape’s failure to yield the right of way when entering an intersection. Alcohol use does not appear to be a factor in this crash.

Personal Injury Crash Lothian
On December 3, 2016 at approximately 3:14 p.m., officers responded to a single vehicle accident in the area of Mt. Zion Road (MD 408) near Ed Prout Road. The investigation revealed that a Hyundai was west bound on Mt. Zion Marlboro Road when it struck a deer, veered right, struck a tree, and subsequently rolled over. The driver was flown to Shock Trauma for a possible head injury and was listed in serious, but stable condition. There was no indication of excessive speed or alcohol use.
Traffic Safety is assisting Southern District with the investigation.

Sex Offense/Information Sought Shady Side
On December 2, 2016 officers responded to the Cedarhurst community in Shady Side for an alleged sex offense involving a female victim. The victim reported that the incident occurred between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. the same day. The victim described the possible suspect as a white male in his 50’s, with a brown and grey beard (no mustache), short dark hair, wearing a blue baseball cap and a blue or black “puffy” coat. This subject was possibly driving gold, four door style vehicle.
