Police Press Release December 11, 2017

Southern District

Commercial Robbery - Lothian         

On December 10, 2017 at approximately 8:50 p.m., officers responded to a robbery at the Dunkin Doughnuts located at 5408 Southern Maryland Boulevard in Lothian. Store employees stated that the four suspects entered the store displaying knives, and demanded money.  The employees complied and the suspects fled the store on foot. Several units, to include a police canine canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspects. There were no injuries.

Suspects: Four unknown race males, mid-teens/early twenties wearing dark clothing  

 

Commercial Robbery - Lothian         

On December 10, 2017 at approximately 12:37 a.m., officers responded to a robbery at the Dash Inn located at 1378 Mount Zion Marlboro Road in Lothian. Store employees stated that the three suspects entered the store displaying knives, and demanded money and cigarettes.  The employees complied and the suspects fled the store in an unknown direction. Several units, to include a police canine canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspects. There were no injuries.

Suspects: Two black males and one white male, approximately 20 years old, all wearing dark clothing  

***Due to the close proximity, similar modus operandi, and suspect’s description detectives believe these two robberies may possibly be related***

 

Western District

Attempt Citizen Robbery - Hanover

On December 8, 2017 at 10:35 p.m., officers responded to the parking lot near Dave and Busters, located at the Arundel Mills Mall, for an attempted citizen robbery of a citizen. The victim was walking to his vehicle when a male approached him, displayed a handgun and demanded cash. The victim did not hand over any money. The suspect then left the area in a green SUV which was waiting nearby. Responding officers located the vehicle a short distance away and apprehended the occupants who were positively identified by the victim. A black BB gun resembling a semi-automatic pistol was found in the vehicle.

Search Warrant/CDS Offense - Laurel

On December 10, 2017 at approximately 2:00 p.m. Western District Tactical Patrol and Narcotics Unit executed a search and seizure warrant at 8602 Accokeek Street in Laurel. The basement of this residence operates as a licensed daycare facility named Sultana Saba Daycare. It appears that children did not have access to where drugs were located in the residence. The Maryland Department of Education Licensing Branch was notified to follow up. As a result of the search warrant, the following items were seized:

  • 595.33 grams of marijuana including packaging (estimated street value $11,906.00)
  • 2.96 grams of cocaine (estimated street value $59.00)
  • Seized US currency $9,305.00
  • Heat sealer machine
  • Various paraphernalia and packaging materials

-Possession with intent to distribute marijuana

-Possession of marijuana

 

Burglary - Hanover

On December 9, 2017 at approximately 11:02 p.m., officers responded to a burglary in progress at the Arbors at the Arundel Preserves in Hanover. Officers arrived and noticed signs of forced entry to the leasing office. Officers located and apprehended a male fitting the description provided by security personnel inside the building.  The male was found to be in possession of items stolen from the leasing office.
