Police Press Release 8/15/2017

Shooting                                                                                                                     Glen Burnie


On August 15, 2017 at approximately 12:01 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call for shots heard in the area of Leonard Drive and Cedar Cliff Drive in Glen Burnie.  While officers were canvassing the area, they located four shell casings in the 1200 block of Leonard Drive.  Another call was then received from medical staff at Baltimore Washington Medical Center (BWMC) advising that an adult male had walked into the hospital with a gunshot wound to the lower leg.


Officers responded to BWMC and met with the twenty year old victim from Glen Burnie who stated that while driving on Cedar Drive, he was shot by two unknown juveniles. He stated that a short time later he realized he was shot in the leg and drove himself to the hospital. He could not provide any further details and was released from the hospital with a minor injury to his leg.


The shell casings were collected by evidence collection technicians and Northern District Detectives are continuing the investigation. There is no further information available at this time.



Abduction/Auto Theft                                                                                              Glen Burnie                                                              

On August 14, 2017, at approximately 5:21 p.m., officers responded for an abduction/stolen vehicle at the Royal Farms Store, located at 200 Oak Manor Road in Glen Burnie. When officers arrived, the adult female victim stated that a man had taken her vehicle, with her five year old child in the back seat.  Further, she stated that while standing next to her vehicle talking to a friend, the suspect approached her and asked her for spare change or a ride. The victim stated that she had no money and continued talking with her friend. The suspect then jumped into her vehicle and speed away.


While responding officers along with canine and police helicopter searched the area, it was learned that the child was recovered by Baltimore City Police in the 1100 block of N. Fetter Street when a citizen observed him walking on the sidewalk.  The child was unharmed from the incident and was reunited with his mother. The vehicle was later recovered in the area of 1500 North Fulton Avenue in Baltimore City and processed by evidence technicians. Northern District Detectives responded and took charge of the investigation.  There is no further information available at this time.


Suspect: Male, approximately six feet tall, skinny build, wearing a black and white baseball cap, a black shirt with the writing “Island Quizine” on the back, black and white Adidas style pants, and black and white shoes.
