Western District

Fatal Crash                                                                                                                Severn

 

On June 4, 2018 at approximately 6:32 p.m. officers responded to a motor vehicle accident on Quarterfield Road near Janet Dale Lane in Severn. Preliminary investigation showed that a motorcycle was northbound on Quarterfield Road when the driver lost control and struck a utility pole.  The driver was taken to Baltimore Washington Medical Center with critical injuries where he died from his injuries.  He was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.  The preliminary cause of the crash was failing to remain in a single lane.  It is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol are contributing factors.

Assault                                                                                                                        Lothian

 

On June 5, 2018 at approximately 2:01 a.m. officers responded to an assault/shooting in the 5100 block of Sands Road in Lothian.  The adult male victim advised that during an argument with his neighbor, the neighbor produced a handgun and began shooting in his direction. As a result, the victim was shot in the calf. He was transported to the hospital where he was treated and released.  This incident is still being investigated and officers are attempting to locate the neighbor/suspect. There is no further information available. Detectives continue to investigate the incident.  Updates will be provided when new information is available.
