Fatal Crash                                                                                               Davidsonville

On May 1, 2018 at approximately 3:50 p.m., officers responded to a single vehicle crash in the area of Patuxent River Road and Darcey Lane in Davidsonville. Preliminary investigation showed that a BMW motorcycle was traveling south on Patuxent River Road in the area of Darcey Lane.  Loveville Timberworks, a tree removal service was removing trees in a wooded area just off the northbound side of Patuxent River Road.  A tree they were removing fell in the opposite direction intended, and struck the motorcycle. 

The driver was declared dead at the scene and was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for autopsy.  The primary cause of this crash is a tree falling into the travel portion of the roadway.  Speed or alcohol does not appear to have contributed to this crash. The Traffic Safety Section is handing the investigation.
