Northern District

 

Pedestrian Crash – Critical Injury                                                                            Glen Burnie

 

 

On December 23, 2017 at 5:31 p.m. officers responded to Crain Hwy (MD-3) & Baltimore Annapolis Blvd (MD-648) in Glen Burnie for accident involving a pedestrian struck. Investigation showed that a Chevrolet van entered the intersection against a red traffic signal and struck a pedestrian crossing Crain Hwy in the marked crosswalk.  The pedestrian was transported to Shock Trauma with critical injuries but is expected to survive. Neither the driver nor the passenger in the van was injured.

 

The primary cause of this collision is the van driver failing to stop for a red traffic control signal.  A secondary factor may have been the darkness and light rain/mist.  Neither alcohol nor speed is believed to be contributing factors.  The Traffic Safety Section is handing the investigation and charges, if any, will be after review by the State’s Attorney.

Western District

 

Armed Robbery of a Citizen                                                                                    Severn

 

On December 23, 2017 at approximately 12:10 a.m., officers responded to the area of Jacobs Road and Still Meadows in Severn for an armed robbery of a citizen.  The adult male victim stated while walking in the area he was approached by the suspect who displayed a gun and demanded the victim’s money. The victim complied and the suspect fled the area on foot. Several officers responded to include police canine but the suspect was not located.

 

Suspect: Black Male, 6’0” tall, shoulder length dreads, short beard, thin build

 

 

Shooting                                                                                                                     Severn

 

            On December 22, 2017 at approximately 11:50 p.m., officers responded to the area of Still Meadows Drive and Dove Court in Severn for a citizen complaint of shots heard in the area.  After canvassing the area, officers learned that an adult male victim’s car was shot as he was leaving the area. Officers spoke with the victim (who was at his home in Montgomery County) over the phone. The victim stated that as he was leaving the area of Dove Court he heard gun shots and two struck his vehicle. Detectives responded to Montgomery County to interview the victim and recover evidence from his vehicle. Several officers conducted a canvass of Dove Court but did not locate any evidence, locate an exact crime scene, or find additional property damage or victims.  Detectives are investigating this incident, updates will be provided when available.

SOUTHERN DISTRICT

Vehicle Crash – Critical Injury                                                                                 Churchton

 

On December 24^th, 2017 at 5:31 p.m. officers responded to a report of a crash involving three vehicles on Deale Churchton Road near Franklin Manor Road in Churchton.

 

Initial investigation found that Vehicle #1 was northbound on Deale Churchton Rd at a high rate of speed when it drifted across the centerline and sideswiped vehicle #2 before striking vehicle #3 head on in the southbound lane. 

 

The primary cause of this collision is the driver failing to remain right of center.  Alcohol, speed and wet roadway conditions are suspected to be contributing factors. The Traffic Safety Section is handing the investigation and charges, if any, will be after review by the State’s Attorney.
