Weapons Offense (Arrest) / Hanover
On September 4, 2021, at approximately 10 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Red Roof Inn located in the 7300 block of Parkway Drive South for an occupied vehicle check. Upon arrival, contact was made with the occupant, and a probable cause search was conducted. The occupant was found to be sitting on an unloaded Glock 43x handgun. The subject was arrested and charged accordingly.

Check Fraud (Arrest) / Severna Park
On September 4, 2021, at approximately 12:30 p.m. officers responded to the M&T Bank located at 568 Ritchie Highway for a check fraud complaint. The employee advised the suspect, later identified as Edward Irving Jones, was attempting to cash several fraudulent checks. The suspect left before officers arrived on the scene. During the investigation, officers were advised the suspect tried to fraudulently cash two checks worth approximately $5500. The same suspect successfully cashed a fraudulent check worth $6500 at another area bank on 8/25/2021 and attempted to cash fraudulent checks at a third area bank. The suspect was located a short distance away and placed under arrest. Detectives are investigating and are asking anyone with any information or similar cases to please call 410-222-4700.

Weapons Offense (Arrest) / Crofton
On September 7, 2021, at approximately 12:30 a.m., an officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Route 3 in Crofton when he observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The officer conducted a traffic stop, and probable cause was developed to search the vehicle. During the search, a loaded Taurus 709 slim .9mm handgun was recovered under the driver's seat. The handgun was loaded with 1 round in the chamber and nine rounds in the magazine; it also had an obliterated serial number. 7.69 grams of suspected marijuana was also recovered from within the vehicle. Further investigation revealed the suspect was prohibited from possessing a firearm. The suspect was arrested and charged accordingly.

Shooting (Unknown Location) / Annapolis
On September 7, 2021, at approximately 12:30 a.m., officers responded to Anne Arundel Medical Center for a walk-in shooting victim. The adult male victim advised he was shot on the side of the road while driving to Maryland Live Casino from Baltimore. He could not give a more exact location. Attempted Commercial Robbery (Arrest) / Pasadena
On September 7, 2021, at approximately 02:30 am, officers responded to the Panera Bread on Ritchie Highway for a report of a subject attempting to pick the lock and enter the business. Upon arrival, the employees on scene described the subject and advised he was last seen running away from the business. Officers were able to locate the suspect walking on the B&A Trail between Waterford Road and East-West Boulevard. The suspect was arrested for the attempted burglary as well as CDS possession.
