Police Press Release - November 15, 2018 (Update)

Eastern District

 

Pedestrian Crash – Serious Injury - Pasadena, MD

On November 15th 2018 at approximately 5:33 am officers responded to a pedestrian struck on Ft. Smallwood Road near Rugby Road in Pasadena, Maryland.

A Hyundai was southbound on Ft. Smallwood Road when the pedestrian began crossing the roadway from the nearby business, not using a crosswalk.  The Hyundai struck the pedestrian and immediately stopped.

The pedestrian was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma he is listed in critical condition.  The driver of the Hyundai was not injured.

The preliminary cause of the crash appears to be the pedestrian crossing the roadway and failing to yield to roadway traffic.  The Traffic Safety Section is handing the investigation and the case will be reviewed by the States Attorney.

Southern District

Serious Injury Crash - Tracey’s Landing

On November 15th 2018 at approximately 8:09 am officers responded to a report of a two vehicle crash on Solomon’s Island Road near Old Solomon’s Island Road in Tracey’s Landing.

A Chevrolet Equinox was southbound on Solomon’s Island Rd when it lost control and crossed the double yellow centerline.  The Chevrolet was then struck broadside by Ford sedan travelling northbound.

The driver and juvenile occupants of the Chevrolet sustained serious injuries and were transported to area hospitals. The driver of the Ford received only minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene.

The primary cause of the crash was the Chevrolet failing to remain right of center.  Contributing circumstances are believed to be the current rain, snow precipitation. The Traffic Safety Section is handing the investigation and the case will be reviewed by the States Attorney.
