Police Press Release - June 14, 2018
Western District
On June 14, 2018 from approximately 3:20 a.m. to 4:30 a.m., officers responded for a series of four intruder alarms at businesses along Route 3 in Crofton and Gambrills. Investigation revealed entry was made into the following businesses and property tampered with or stolen:
- AT&T, 1407 Main Chapel Way, Gambrills - Front door pried open. Business owners have not yet determined what, if anything, was stolen
- Wendy’s, 1064 Route 3, Crofton – Front door pried open. Cash box was tampered with. Unknown if anything was stolen.
- The Big Fish Grill, 1260 Route 3, Crofton - Front door pried open. ATM stolen.
- Fat Boy’s Crab Shack, 1651 Route 3, Crofton – Front door pried open. ATM stolen.
These incidents are being investigated as being related due to the similarities and contemporaneous nature. Detectives continue to investigate and any suspect description will be provided when available.

Southern District
Serious Injury Crash Edgewater
On June 14, 2018 at approximately 05:45 am officers responded to a two vehicle crash on Solomons Island Road (MD 2) at Mayo Road in Edgewater. Preliminary investigation showed that a Chevrolet was southbound on Solomons Island Road when it failed to stop for the red traffic signal. As a result, the Chevrolet was struck by a Nissan Altima that was traveling westbound on Mayo Road.
The driver of the Chevrolet was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with critical injuries. The preliminary cause of the crash is failure to stop for a steady red signal. There are no indications of drugs or alcohol being involved. The Traffic Safety Section is investigating the crash and charges, if any, will be after review by the State’s Attorney.
