Child Abuse (Arrest) / Severn


On January 11, 2020 officers responded to a residence in the 8200 block of Saint Francis Drive in Severn for a child abuse investigation. The reporting person suspected a woman working as a nanny for the family of administering unauthorized medication to the reporting person’s two year old child. The mother reported that upon reviewing video from inside her residence, she observed the nanny administering unknown pills to the child, causing the child to sleep for several hours. The child has received care from the primary care physician.

Detectives from the Anne Arundel County Police Child Abuse Unit responded and began an investigation which led to the execution of a search warrant at the suspect’s residence located in the 300 block of Pushaw Station Road in Sunderland Maryland. Numerous pieces of evidence were collected as a result of the search warrant in include antihistamines. Detectives applied for and received an arrest warrant charging the suspect with 2nd degree child abuse, reckless endangerment and neglect of a minor. The suspect was taken into custody on February 24, 2020.

Southern District

Commercial Robbery (Arrest Update) / Lothian


On February 16, 2020 at approximately 1:45 a.m., officers responded for a robbery at the Dash In located at 1378 Mount Zion Marlboro Road in Lothian. An unknown male suspect entered the store, implied he had a weapon and demanded cash from the register. The clerk complied and the suspect fled. Officers searched the area but wer unable to locate the suspect. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident. Robbery detectives are investigating this incident and ask anyone with information to contact 410-222-4720 or the Tip Line at 410-222-4700.

Suspect: White male, 20 - 30 years old, 5'5", thin build, wearing green sweatshirt

Update (2-26-20)

Through investigation, robbery detectives were able to identify and charge a suspect, Bryan Karl Gettmann, 27, of Friendship, Maryland. Gettmann was taken into custody by the Anne Arundel County Police Fugitive Apprehension Team on February 25, 2020.

Northern District

Citizen Robbery / Glen Burnie


On February 25, 2020 at approximately 3:05 p.m., officers responded for a check-subject complaint at the 7-Eleven located at 705 Greenway S.E. in Glen Burnie. Upon arrival officers met with an 18 year old male victim who said he was being chased by an unknown male subject on the B&A trail. After speaking with the victim further, the victim told officers he was robbed at gunpoint by the same male on February 24, 2020 at approximately 10:30 p.m. At that time, three male suspects approached the victim and demanded property while one of the suspects displayed a handgun. The victim complied and the suspect fled in a black sedan. While walking on the B&A trail with his friends on February 25, 2020 at approximately 3:00 p.m., the victim was again approached by the same suspects in a black sedan. The victim and his friends ran to the 7-Eleven where they contacted police. No weapons were displayed during the second incident. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects or vehicle. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident. Northern District detectives are investigating this incident and ask anyone with information to contact 410-222-6135.
