Commercial Armed Robbery / Shots Fired Hanover
On August 25, 2018 at approximately 5:29 p.m., officers responded to the Oriental Express located in the 7300 block of Parkway Drive South in Hanover for a robbery. A male subject entered the establishment with a handgun, when the employees walked away he grabbed the cash register and exited the store. The employee followed the suspect outside and the suspect fired the handgun twice at the ground. The suspect then fled from the area. Officers searched the area with the assistance of the police K9 and helicopter units, however were unable to locate the suspect. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
Suspect: Black male, wearing dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
Fatal Motorcycle Crash Gambrills
On August 25, 2018 at approximately 3:50 pm officers responded to a motorcycle crash on northbound Crain Highway (MD-3) near Churchview Road in Gambrills. A Yamaha R1 motorcycle was northbound on MD-3 when the motorcyclist lost control and the Yamaha overturned. The motorcyclist was ejected from the Yamaha and was struck by a Ford F250. The motorcyclist was taken to a local trauma center where he was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The driver of the Ford F250 was not injured. The preliminary cause of the crash appears to be reckless driving on behalf of the motorcyclist. The Traffic Safety Section is handing the investigation and any charges will be after review by the States Attorney.
