Office of Transportation to Conduct Community Outreach on Expanded Transportation Options
Improved Transportation Connecting Anne Arundel County Residents
Annapolis, MD (September 14, 2018) –The Anne Arundel County Office of Transportation today announced it will kick off of an extensive outreach program to better educate residents about the County’s expanded transportation options.
“Our expansion this summer is affording greater transportation options to our nearly 600,000 residents,” said Director of Transportation Ramond Robinson. “Our team is committed to helping educate every resident about these improvements.”
As part of the effort, the Office of Transportation will be conducting eight seminars at senior centers across the County beginning September 17th at the South County Senior Center. The Office will also offer presentations to community groups, homeowner associations, and regional Chambers of Commerce.
Over the last year, the Office of Transportation has announced several expanded transportation options including:
Arundel Mills Jobs Connector: An expanded shuttle, funded by a grant from the Anne Arundel County Local Development Council, is connecting job seekers to BWI Marshall Airport, Live! Casino and Arundel Mills Mall, to effectively access employment at Maryland Live! Casino, Arundel Mills, BWI Marshall Airport, and adjacent businesses. It operates seven days a week, including holidays.
South County Circulator: The $300,000 route services a number of areas in South County currently lacking transportation options including: Galesville, Shadyside, Churchton, Deale, Tracy’s Landing, Wayson’s Corner, Lothian and Harwood. Communities in South County are now able to connect to the City of Annapolis, and employees hoping to connect to employment locations in South County will benefit greatly from this service. It operates weekdays providing trips in the morning, midday and in the evening.
In addition to the new services, the Office of Transportation has been instrumental in bringing Pace Bike Share with coordination with City of Annapolis as well as Mega Bus serving Anne Arundel County with multiple trips Monday – Sunday.
