Metal Theft in Hanover

On December 16, 2015 at approximately 7:14 am, officers responded to a theft that occurred at the Homewood Suites, in Hanover, Maryland.  Investigation revealed that unknown suspect(s) had removed brass caps, which cover firehose connectors in various stairwells of the hotel.  Similar thefts were reported over the past few weeks throughout Anne Arundel County, Maryland.  Investigation revealed that David Michael Wilkinson was arrested by Annapolis City Police on December 04, 2015, for stealing brass caps from a marina in Annapolis City.

 Annapolis City Police charged the suspect with theft, however, he was released on his own recognizance.  Detectives from Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Metal Theft Unit began their investigation and were able to link Mr. Wilkinson to several cases throughout Anne Arundel County, Maryland.  On December 18, 2015, detectives from Metal Theft Unit were able to conduct surveillance and took Mr. Wilkinson into custody, without incident.  Mr. Wilkinson was charged with several counts of theft, reckless endangerment, and burglary.
