Ft. Smallwood Fatal Accident

On December 17, 2017 at approximately 4:47 a.m. officers responded to Ft. Smallwood Road near Devere Drive in Pasadena for a single vehicle crash. Preliminary investigation showed a Ford Focus was traveling north bound on Ft. Smallwood Road at a high rate of speed.  As the vehicle rounded a curve on approach to Devere Drive, the operator lost control of the vehicle.  The vehicle left the roadway striking a group of trees causing the vehicle to roll.  Subsequently, the front seat passenger was ejected from the vehicle, sustaining fatal injuries.  The driver and two other passengers were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

Speed and alcohol may be a factor in this case. The Traffic Safety Section currently handling the investigation. Identifications will be released when next of kin notifications have been made.
