Annapolis, MD - Anne Arundel County State's Attorney Wes Adams announced today that the Office of the State's Attorney was named the Anne Arundel County Business Partnership of the Year at the 32nd annual Excellence in Education Awards in recognition of Carol Parreco's work as Director of Community Outreach.
"Usually our wins come in the courtroom. Today, we have the honor of celebrating a huge win in the classroom," said State's Attorney Wes Adams. "For the past three years, Carol has worked tirelessly to educate the parents and students of our local schools in an effort to ensure they never see the inside of a courtroom. Her work is a great example of the different ways our office can accomplish its core mission - serving this community."
Ms. Parreco was presented the Business Partnership of the Year award in recognition of her work as an invaluable partner to the schools of Anne Arundel County. As Director of Community Outreach for the Office of the State's Attorney, Ms. Parreco is responsible for the development and implementation of educational crime prevention programs that directly engage county residents of all ages.
Brandi Dorsey, facilitator of Northeast High's Human Performance Signature Program, nominated Ms. Parreco specifically for the integral role she played in developing the school's "Haunted House of Addictions". This drug awareness campaign was highly praised by students, staff, parents, and the community for its transparency, relatability, and heart-wrenching impact.
The Excellence in Education Awards are presented annually in partnership by Anne Arundel County Public Schools and the Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce.
