Department of Detention Facilities Conducts Graduation Exercises
18 employees completed 8-week Correctional Entrance Level Training Program
Annapolis, MD (June 15, 2021) - Today, the Department of Detention Facilities conducted graduation exercises for 18 correctional employees - 12 Departmental staff and 6 Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center employees - who completed the eight-week Correctional Entrance Level Training Program.
Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman, Jane S. Sachs, Correctional Administrator for the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions, and Chris Klein, Department of Detention Facilities Superintendent, provided remarks.
Anne Arundel County’s Correctional Entrance Level Training Program is provided by the Department of Detention Facilities’ Training Staff under the auspices of the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions. During the 336-hour program, detention officers and civilian staff - who are responsible for the care, custody, control and supervision of inmates - master a total of 116 learning objectives.
The graduates received training in areas relating to administrative and personnel, ethics and professionalism, medical and mental health, conflict and crisis management, inmate management, legal issues, security, custody and control, applied skills and communications.
