(Millersville, MD) For the 24 hour period on Monday, March 16th the Anne Arundel County Fire Department responded to 191 incidents (daily average is 212).
Incidents of Note:
Dwelling Fire Glen Burnie
Just before 6:30 on Monday evening firefighters were dispatched for a reported basement fire in a dwelling in the 100 block of North Bend Terrace. The first arriving firefighters observed a two story, single family Cape Cod with heavy smoke from the front door and attic area. Firefighters located and extinguished a basement fire which had extended into other parts of the dwelling. Investigators from the Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit have determined the fire to be accidental in nature and occurred when an occupant unintentionally ignited combustibles while repairing plumbing. The occupants of the house were alerted to the fire by working smoke alarms which provided them time to safely evacuate. Two adult occupants were displaced and assisted by the Red Cross. Damages are estimated at approximately $40,000. There were no injuries.
