County Executive Steve Schuh Thanks County Council for Approving Proposed Conference Center Financing Legislation
Annapolis, MD (September 21st, 2015) –County Executive Steve Schuh tonight thanked the Anne Arundel County Council for approving legislation to support the proposed Maryland Live! Conference Center.
“This planned conference center will be a game changer for our county,” said Schuh. “Thank you to the County Council, especially Councilman Pete Smith, for helping support a project that will make our County stronger.”
The proposed conference center, made possible by legislation from Councilman Smith, would provide a venue for Anne Arundel County High School graduations and other non-profits at no cost to the county.
The tax incremental financing, or TIF, legislation proposed by Councilman Smith would finance infrastructure improvements around the site, including road improvements and sewer upgrades.
The project would also ensure the Maryland Live! Casino can continue to generate revenue for the county in the form of Local Development Council (LDC) grants, which fund the police, fire, community college, critical nonprofits, and infrastructure projects near the casino.
