Annapolis, Maryland (September 10, 2022)- Four Anne Arundel County DPW employees leave today for a two-week mission to aid water recovery efforts in Jackson Mississippi.  Two weeks ago, rainfall of historic proportions flooded Mississippi's Pearl River, crippling the O.B. Curtis water treatment plant, rendering it unable to provide 150,000 residents with safe drinking water.  Jackson Mississippi is requesting assistance to restore water treatment capability and distribution to its residents who are currently under a boil water order.

In response, Anne Arundel County is sending a water plant operator, electrician, mechanical supervisor, and instrumentation technician to assist in establishing a consistent supply of safe drinking water for the residents.  Staff are grateful for the opportunity to provide assistance to Jackson citizens.   Reimbursement of travel-related expenses will be provided by Mississippi and/or Federal Emergency Management.
