Anne Arundel County Congratulates School System and Class of 2015 on Record $154 Million in Scholarship Offers

Annapolis, MD (August 12, 2015) County Executive Steve Schuh today congratulated the Anne Arundel County Public School System and the Class of 2015 on earning more than $154.5 million in scholarship offers, a 13.5 percent increase over the previous year.

“This record amount in scholarship offers is a fantastic achievement not only for the Class of 2015, but for the teachers, administrators, and leadership of our school system,” said Schuh. “Superintendent George Arlotto, the School Board, and our dedicated teachers continue to demonstrate a consistent commitment towards giving our Anne Arundel County students the best education possible.”

The record number of scholarship offers, according to information released by AACPS earlier today, includes totals from students at 15 schools and programs including 13 comprehensive high schools, the Phoenix Academy, and the Evening High School program. Eight of the county’s 13 comprehensive high schools each received more than $10 million in offers, with South River High School’s $23.3 million topping all schools, according to results from the school system’s annual senior survey. On a per-senior basis, 11 of the county’s 13 comprehensive high schools garnered more than $25,000 per student.
