Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities to Recognize Falls Prevention Awareness Week
Annapolis, MD (September 20, 2022)-- Falls are common, no matter your age. Unfortunately, an unexpected fall for an older adult can result in serious and costly injury. The good news is that most falls can be prevented. The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities is committed to teaching older adults the tools of fall prevention. In recognition of Falls Prevention Awareness week, the Department of Aging and Disabilities will be providing information and tools on how to reduce the risk of falls, a leading cause of serious injury and death among people over age 65.
“We all have heard stories about older adults whose lives have been affected by falls,” said County Executive Pittman. “Our team at the Department of Aging and Disabilities works hard to provide the tools and resources necessary to ensure the next fall is prevented.”
“Providing county residents with information and resources empowers and enables them to live independent and meaningful lives. This is a cornerstone of the Department of Aging and Disabilities’ overall mission,” said Karrisa Kelly, department director. “Community education is a very important part of helping individuals remain independent and safe in their homes.”
